One sunny day, four stops: a garden with its own beehives, Canada's largest aquarium, the Stanley Park seawall on a tandem and Gastown after dark.
We left Canmore in fog at six in the morning and reached Vancouver twelve hours later. One driver, homemade jerky, a dachshund with opinions about speed, and mountains the whole way.
Four hours from Winnipeg — and five days when we barely used the car. Our route to Nestor Falls, our stay on Pinus Lake, canoeing with Nika, Caliper Lake, the campfire and what we actually spent.
Leave Winnipeg at two on a Friday and 131 kilometres later you're in the water — with a hand-built suspension bridge four minutes down the road.
Our friends said Steep Rock wasn't worth it. We had to see for ourselves — and drove three hours to Manitoba's own little Mediterranean of limestone cliffs and turquoise water.
